Scottish Highland Football Under 17 League - East, Turriff United v Fraserburgh, Monday 1st April 2019
By Mark Simpson
Turriff and Broch share the spoils
The Broch took the lead after three minutes when Zane Laird fired home after good work on the right by Scott Murison. Turriff came back into the match and on 19 minutes Aidan Jay-Leonard crossed for Bruno Dembele but he saw his flicked shot deflected wide by Andrew Dunbar. The same combination combined for the home side two minutes later but the Turriff striker's effort was blocked.
Ben Cresswell was next to go close for Turriff but Andrew Dunbar did well to save the shot. The Broch then had a great chance to double their lead when Aidan Wood felled Ryan Strachan inside the box but the young striker lashed the spot kick over the crossbar. On 35 minutes Scott Murison won the ball in midfield before driving forward and firing a shot just over.
Half Time: Turriff United 0 Fraserburgh 1
Turriff came out with renewed vigour and almost equalised on 47 minutes when Bruno Dembele saw his shot blocked by Ryan Thoirs and John Milne curled a shot from the resultant corner just wide. Seven minutes later Zane Laird released Scott Murison on the right and the Broch midfielder saw his shot across the keeper go just wide of the goal.
The hosts levelled on 58 minutes when Bruno Dembele scored from the spot after he had been upended inside the penalty area. The Broch regained the lead on 71 minutes when they were awarded a second penalty after Mathew Keith's shot was spilled by the keeper and he tripped Callum Buchan as he went for the loose ball. The Broch player got up and calmly stroked home the spot kick.
The home side almost made the perfect response a minute later when Bruno Dembele saw his netbound shot tipped round the post by Jake Ritchie. From the corner Turriff had a couple of efforts blocked before Craig Anderson's shot was well saved by the Broch keeper. The equaliser was only delayed by a couple of minutes when Bruno Dembele waltzed past a couple of Broch defenders before slotting the ball into the net.
The home side were searching a winner and Bruno Dembele set up Craig Anderson on 86 minutes but he fired wide. A minute later and Ryan Acott's header was met by Craig Anderson but Jake Ritchie did splendidly to tip the ball over the crossbar.
