Broch's winning run hits the buffers as Locos hit back late on to snatch a point
The Broch were denied by a last minute equaliser at Harlaw Park as the ten man hosts secured a point. Paul Campbell’s first half penalty gave the visitors the lead before Stuart Duff’s howitzer levelled matters just before the break. Jamie Beagrie’s well directed header looked like giving the Black & Whites all three points but up popped Connor Rennie to curl home and deny the Broch all three points.
The Broch made a few changes to the eleven who had fired seven past Fort William with Lewis Davidson, Ryan Cowie, Michael Rae & Paul Campbell all returning to the starting line up. The players that made way were Marc Dickson, Cameron Buchan, Ryan Christie and Aidan Combe who all found places on the bench.
The first chance fell to the Broch on six minutes when the ball fell for Paul Campbell at the back post but he failed to connect properly and his effort screwed wide. Three minutes later Neil Gauld crossed from the right but Peter Tait was well positioned to save Chris Angus’ header. Dean Cowie then fired in a long free kick which Jamie Beagrie connected with but Andy Reid saved comfortably. On 17 minutes Gary Harris chipped in a cross from the left which William West headed straight at Andy Reid. Locos would create the next chance in the 26th minute when Joe McCabe’s free kick was met by the head of Mark Souter but Peter Tait dealt with the Locos man’s effort.
A minute later Paul Young’s free kick into the Locos penalty area fell into the path of Paul Campbell but he poked his effort wide of the post. Ryan Cowie then fired in a diagonal free kick to the back post which Bryan Hay met on the volley but sent his shot well over the bar. Gary Harris and William West then combined to set up the former who saw his shot from 12 yards just clear the Locos crossbar. Neil Gauld robbed Bryan Hay at the other end but fired his shot wide of Peter Tait’s left hand post. The Broch then had the best chance of the half when Michael Rae’s defence splitting pass sent Paul Campbell clear but home keeper Andy Reid did well to beat the striker’s effort away for a corner.
On 36 minutes Paul Campbell picked the ball up in midfield and turned his marker before firing in a shot which Andy Reid saved low to his left. Five minutes before the break Paul Campbell got to the ball ahead of his marked who tripped the Broch hitman inside the area leaving the referee with no option but to point to the spot. He did his normal immaculate job from the spot sending Reid the wrong way. Two minutes later the scores were level when Stuart Duff’s long range bullet flew past Peter Tait in the Broch goal. Locos almost went in 2-1 up when Chris Angus fired a shot across Peter Tait but just wide of the right upright.

Eight minutes into the second half Locos were reduced to 10 men when Joe McCabe was show a straight red card for a two footed lunge on Ryan Cowie. On 58 minutes a long free kick into the Broch box was headed just over by Mark Souter. Three minutes later a good move between Gary Harris, Michael Rae, Ryan Cowie and William West saw the latter fire in a shot from the edge of the area which was beaten away by Andy Reid.
On 71 minutes the Broch regained the lead when Graham Johnston’s corner from the left was met with a thumping header by Jamie Beagrie high into the net. Locos had a chance to level almost immediately when Neil Gauld picked the ball up inside the Broch box and fired in a shot which Peter Tait saved low to his left. On 75 minutes Colin Charlesworth arrived late into the Broch penalty area but shot wide of Peter Tait’s right hand post. Five minutes on Charlesworth had another effort when the ball broke to him outside the box but his drive was deflected wide.
Peter Tait then completely misjudged a free kick by his counterpart Andy Reid when the Locos custodian took a free kick from the halfway line and the long ball forward clipped the crossbar and went over. In the 90th minute Locos levelled for a second time when a corner was only cleared as far as Connor Rennie 20 yards out and he found space to curl the ball past Peter Tait and into the Broch net.
